Total Global Refugees:

  • 1980 – 8.5 million

  • 2015 – 15.1 million[Foreign Policy Jan-Feb 2016, 36.]

War Refugees:

⦁ Iraq – 3,000,000 internally displaced in 2015 [Amnesty International]
⦁ Syria – 4,000,000 refugees in Mideast, outside of Syria in 2015; over 50% of Syrian population displaced; [AI]

Climate Change Is Worse Than War:
In 2008, 4.6 million displaced by war worldwide; 20 million displaced by climate; by 2050, 50-300 million climate refugees will exist on the planet [Population Connection, Oct. 2015]

  • 1990s – Somalia

  • 2002 – Afghanistan, Somalia

  • 2003 – Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia

  • 2011 – Libya, Somalia
