A moral society and government care for those in need. The recent bipartisan budget agreement can be discussed at length on the details, but–far worse–it sends the wrong message by stiffing those in need and letting the rich go free.
The agreement was billed as a compromise. A compromise is when each side gives a little. This agreement calls for more austerity for working (or, those who wish they were working) while letting the super-rich get away scot-free. That is not compromise. That is welfare for the rich. OK, maybe the sacrifices for the side that will do the sacrificing are not all that great. Not the point. The point is that this agreement sends a message – that the bill will be paid by those in need and the benefits will go to those who have no need. And the politicians are telling us this is “progress!?!”
